Location: Fair Lawn, NJ
Certification: LEED-EBOM Gold
Project Type: Manufacturing, Office
Project Size: 79,100 SF
Project Summary
This building is the production site for CALMAC’s thermal energy storage tanks. Originally constructed in 1970, the facility includes space for office and design activities as well as storage and production areas.
YR&G Role
YR&G helped develop and implement the LEED strategy, including devising an energy benchmarking approach that accounts for fluctuating levels of factory production. With strong links to the HVAC and energy industries, CALMAC had previously implemented many energy efficiency measures prior to the LEED initiative. YR&G guided further evaluation of energy saving opportunities by supporting CALMAC’s engineers in performing an ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit. YR&G also helped expand the building’s sustainability program to incorporate water saving measures, air quality and occupancy comfort strategies, and procurement and site management protocols.
